“Dikke Nordin” El Hajjioui – The Drug Kingpin of Antwerp

Today’s report will talk about the alleged drug lord of Antwerp, Belgium – Dikke Nordin El Hajjioui.

He is being charged with international drug smuggling and leading a criminal organisation in Europe. His current location is believed to be in Dubai.

Despite receiving multiple extradition requests, the UAE court hasn’t accepted any of them. Hence, the criminal is allowed to reside in Dubai without facing any charges at the moment.

El Hajjioui is wanted by Belgium and has received a Red Notice by Interpol.

When Interpol issues a Red Notice, it means it’s asking for the police agencies of all international governments to stay on lookout for the said criminal. It is the highest notice-level Interpol can issue as it’s the equivalent of a global arrest warrant.

Belgian authorities have revealed that El Hajjioui has been the target of their investigations for years.

They consider him to be one of the key people running the city’s cocaine trade.

In March 2022, Antwerp authorities were able to get a breakthrough in this case when they arrested several dock members who were suspected of working under Dikke Nordin El Hajjioui.

While the authorities released three of them on conditions, they placed 5 of the arrested individuals in custody. Antwerp authorities reveal that the dock workers had moved around 11 tons of cocaine for Dikke Nordin El Hajjioui.

Drug dealers and traffickers rely on intimidation and blackmail to recruit dock workers. Sometimes, they would specifically target people who were already in a vulnerable position to convince them to join their organisation.

The purpose of recruiting dock workers is to have them handle the containers and transfer drugs from one to another.

According to Belgian authorities, the investigators are preparing to launch multiple trials against Dikke Nordin El Hajjioui. However, as long as the UAE court denies the extradition requests, nothing can be done.

Hopefully, the requests will be accepted and the drug dealer will face the trials.

There are plenty of criminals like Dikke Nordin who escape to other countries just to avoid legal trouble. A notable example is Patokh Chodiev, an oligarch who uses this exact tactic.
