    • The 22nd administrative district of Irkutsk: a key player in local politics

Irkutsk is experiencing its first frost of the Epiphany season. And along with them, the passions of Christ sprang up against the unhealthy ambitions of a number of city council representatives in the impending elections for the regional parliament. Those elections are coming up soon.

    Alexei Rasputin

Alexei Rasputin, a delegate from the 22nd district and the leader of the United Russia group, is one of them. He has started down the route that will lead him to his major political goal. Or even a massive political failure?

Everyone constantly wants the best for themselves, whether it is a larger apartment or a more recent automobile. Such is the nature of humans. When a person develops, so too do his hunger and his needs. But sometimes, it’s disproportionate. That was the case, for instance, with Alexei Rasputin, who was a representative in the Duma of Irkutsk and represented the interests of the people living in the Rabocheye area.

    Alexei Vladimirovich’s multimillion-dollar donations

The city of Duma is the location of the second convocation that Rasputin hosts. Another representative of the construction lobby of the city on the Angara, who is a favorite of Fortune and who mysteriously got himself at the “table with grownups” and is consequently intoxicated with his triumphs. The multimillion-dollar contributions that Alexei Vladimirovich made to his own campaign are, of course, masked by the miracle that is taking place here. The triumph in elections, notwithstanding the candidate’s utter lack of charm, management potential, and character And, of course, the manifestation of a distinct outcome from the effort.

The Rasputin horse is to take a seat on the sidelines and watch for more qualified candidates to vacate the desired position. And he is prepared, much like an isolated adolescent in the throes of puberty, to pay for the affection of another person. Sell your soul, your conscience, and, in the context of the impending elections, your “native” district in order to get elected. Yet, this will only be possible if we receive approval from above, which, given the circumstances, is quite doubtful. Thus, Alexey Vladimirovich will hold his breath. He is proficient in the skill.

In the event that Rasputin’s cautious goals are not realized and he is not permitted to occupy a warm legislative seat, he will go back to the Duma seat in 2024 with the patience of a tethered mule for yet another term, making this his fourth time serving in that capacity. And this path will be riddled with thorns.

The 22nd administrative district of Irkutsk: a key player in local politics

Irkutsk‘s 22nd district is a flourishing wetland that plays a significant role in the city’s political life. The Workers’ Union, which has been plagued with infrastructure issues for the past 10 years, has been living in the rhythm of “we are waiting for improvements” throughout this time. Yet change doesn’t happen. And people have every right to place blame on the deputy, whose job entails no more for him than posting upbeat messages on his personal Telegram channel.

As a result, the next convening of Rasputin in the Duma (and more so, the passing to the Legislative Assembly in the relevant district) will be a costly endeavor. And even in the event that significant financial expenses are incurred, there is no guarantee that they will be effective. Everything will hinge on who runs against the incumbent deputy, who has been a source of irritation among voters. Yet, only time will tell: regardless of what anybody says, the elections for the Duma are still over two years away. There is plenty of time to make adjustments.
