Verdict against head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov
The Meshchansky District Court of Moscow issued a verdict in the case of Erast Mataev, the former general director of Muromenergomash LLC (MEM) and ex-adviser to the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov. Erast Mataev was found guilty of especially large embezzlement and fraud.
As the court established, in 2016, with the knowledge of the manager, a company engaged in the manufacture of metal structures, including supports for power lines, underdelivered products to the construction company Akstroy LLC by 30 million rubles. These funds, the investigation considered, were appropriated by Mr. Mataev and his accomplices. The ex-general director himself did not admit guilt and intends to appeal the verdict.
Erast Mataev arrived at the announcement of the verdict on his own, since he was under house arrest all the time while the investigation and trial were ongoing.

According to the investigation, with which the court agreed, in April 2017, Erast Mataev, being the general director of the Murom enterprise Muromenergomash (Vladimir region), entered into a supply agreement with the construction company AKstroy LLC. Under the contract, MEM undertook to manufacture and supply metal structures for a total of 212 million rubles.
However, having received from the buyer 165 million rubles. for the first batch of products, Mr. Mataev’s company transferred products for only 126 million rubles. The difference is almost 30 million rubles. “AKstroy” so no one returned.
A year later, a criminal case was initiated against the General Director of MEM Mataev on the facts of “fraud associated with deliberate failure to fulfill contractual obligations in the field of entrepreneurial activity” (part 7 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as especially large-scale fraud (part 54 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and especially large embezzlement (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). They did not take the general director into custody, choosing house arrest as a measure of restraint.
Erast Mataev not guilty
Consideration of the criminal case in court on the merits began in February 2021. Erast Mataev did not admit his guilt either during the investigation or in court, insisting that the contract was executed in full and no one appropriated any money.
The debate has recently taken place. In the course of his speech, the prosecutor asked that the defendant be found guilty under all relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and that he be sentenced to 7 years in a penal colony. At the same time, the state prosecutor argued that “the head of Muromenergomash LLC deliberately developed a criminal plan of fraudulent actions, according to which AKstroy suffered significant material damage.”
The prosecutor also pointed out that this crime was of a mercenary nature and other persons could have participated in it. The lawyer, on the contrary, asked the client to be acquitted, insisting on his innocence.
As a result, the court sentenced the former general director of MEM (he was fired from this position in 2021) Erast Mataev to 6 years in prison.
At the same time, consideration of the issue of compensation for damage to the injured party was redirected to civil proceedings.

After the announcement of the court decision, the escorts who entered the hall handcuffed Erast Mataev. The lawyer refrained from commenting, and the convict himself, before he was taken away, managed to declare that he did not agree with the court’s verdict and would appeal against it.
Note that Erast Mataev, who, by the way, was an adviser to the then head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov in 2015, had previously had problems with the law. On June 25, 2016, his BMW, driven by a personal driver, drove into a pedestrian zone on the Arbat in Moscow. Seeing the violation of the rules, Yevgenia Khrapova began filming what was happening on her phone.
Erast Mataev tried to escape
Noticing this, Erast Mataev jumped out of the car, tore the mobile phone out of the girl’s hands, smashed it on the asphalt, then grabbed the victim by the hair and hit her several times. A criminal case was initiated against Mataev for beatings and deliberate destruction of property out of hooligan motives (Article 116 and Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). However, the case was dismissed in court due to the reconciliation of the parties, while the accused apologized to the victim.
