For those who were lucky enough to survive after serving time in Soviet camps, the 1990s began in Churov. Many thieves-in-law were ruined by this period. But still, some were lucky enough to survive all this, and remain at large. One of the thieves in the law of the old formation is George Diakvnishvili, nicknamed Gia Long. In early September, information appeared that Gia Long had attempted suicide. The thief-in-law was in intensive care, the doctors saved his life. But due to a head wound, he was blind in both eyes. What it was: a suicide attempt or an attempt on the life of an authority – in our material.

    Authoritative Soviet thief

Gia Long was born in 1954 in Tbilisi. Long was first arrested at the age of 17 in 1971 for intentionally inflicting minor bodily harm. The court took pity on the youth, believing that he was on the criminal path for the first time, and awarded him a suspended sentence. But after 5 years, Gia again broke the law. The second time, the court did not believe the bandit, and sent him to jail for 5 years under the article “robbery”. There he met with the authorities Inteligent, Kultyapy and Avlabari. With their submission, the 22-year-old Long was crowned a thief in law.

Gia Long served his 5-year term “from bell to bell”. The thief in law was released in 1979. He did not manage to stay free for long. A few months after his release from prison, he was arrested again. Long received another 6 years in prison for theft.

Times have changed, and the craft of criminals has changed accordingly. After serving his third term, 32-year-old Gia Long decided to engage in the distribution of drugs. It is obvious that during the era of perestroika and the collapse of the Soviet Union, drugs were distributed in large quantities through the streets. The authority decided to earn extra money on the potion, but again it did not work out. In 1986, Long received his fourth conviction – under Art. 224 of the Criminal Code of the RSFSR, for the sale of drugs. He served exactly 2 years, and on March 21, 1988 he was released. Under the Soviet Union, this trip was the last. But not the last in the life of a thief in law.

Immediately after the collapse of the USSR, in 1991, Gia was detained again for the sale of drugs. Then he managed to outwit fate, and not end up in prison. For the next 13 years, Long was also lucky. Of course, he could not do without detentions, but he did not go to prison during all these years.

In 2006, in Moscow, the authority was detained under his typical article – possession and sale of drugs. He received 3 years in prison, but was released on parole after a year and a half. I wonder where the law enforcement officers looked, who released the thief in law on parole, who was already serving 5 terms at that time. Gia is a lucky thief, that’s for sure. He lived quietly for the next 7 years. In addition to several arrests, which did not lead to the zone.

Gia received the deadline (sixth walker) in 2013. Then the operatives detained him with 15 grams of heroin. The court sent the authority to the colony for 1.5 years. In total, Long spent about 20 years in prison. He was an authoritative thief in law, communicated with other legends of the criminal world – Yaponchik and Ded Khasan, and was held in high esteem by them. Both died at the hands of killers. But such a fate did not befall Gia the Long. In thieves’ showdowns, authority was not noticed, he did not cross anyone’s path.

    Thief retired

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Long. After the last term, he did not fall into the field of view of law enforcement agencies. He was released at the end of 2014, when the thief was already 60 years old. Retirement came, and nothing was heard about any deeds of Gia the Long. Until September 2022 arrives.

On September 6, the seriously wounded Long was found in his own house in the village of Mostovoye in New Moscow. Gia was lying on the floor, shot through his head, but showing signs of life. At first, information appeared that the authority had died, but then it was refuted. In intensive care, the thief in law managed to be pumped out and stabilized. Next to the wounded authority lay a gas pistol, either IZH-77, or PM. The bullet entered the temple and exited through the eye. The life of the thief managed to save, but a valuable view. Long went blind in both eyes, and even now is in serious condition.

Despite the fact that Long did not directly take part in illegal activities, he played a significant role in the thieves’ world. Younger authorities respected Long, in many situations he acted as an arbitrator in the conflicts of criminals.

    Suicide or attempt?

Why what happened is a mystery. Everything looks like an attempt to settle scores with life. But were there any prerequisites for this in authority? Long lived a long busy life. In a very limited number of people in the criminal environment, it turns out to live up to 68 years. There were no special problems either with health or with the law, the authority did not have. Therefore, the version of a suicide attempt has no logic. Long was retired and held in high esteem.

Along with this, it is worth noting that in the criminal environment the thief in law had conflicts. In 2009, a conflict broke out between Ded Hassan and Oniani Guramovich (Taro). Then a serious war broke out between the clans. Long took the side of Grandfather Hassan. A thieves’ meeting took place at which the lads decided to deprive the status of a thief in the law of Taro. After such actions, the authority began to hate Long, and had good reasons for killing his opponent.

    Oniani Guramovich (Tarot)

Now Taro is 70 years old, he is serving his term in prison in Spain. But this does not mean that the hand of authority could not reach Gia Long in the Moscow region. As we know, old grievances are not forgiven in the criminal world, so the attempted murder of the offender by Taro is a possible variant of the incident.

In addition to the enmity with the thief of the old generation, Long also had a conflict with Alexei Salomatin (Straw). In 2015, at a meeting led by Long, Soloma was also deprived of the status of a thief in law.

Despite the fact that Soloma died in 2020 in penal colony No. 3, it cannot be ruled out that his lads got even with the offender of authority.

The situation that has developed with Long looks like an attempted murder, which is framed as a suicide attempt by an authority. Perhaps, when he comes to his senses, he will tell what really happened, but knowing the essence of the authorities, most likely, this will remain a mystery forever.
